So recently I decided to replace the laser on my slim PS2. Well I followed instructions exactly, but the new laser appears to be faulty. The laser moves and tries to read the disc but it wont, the disc will not spin. I put the old laser back in and it works as good as did before. So my question is could this be a sort of ignorance on my part or do I have to pay the shipping to replace this damn part.

Hope you get a great answer because I'm having the same problem.
I've replaced the laser (it moves correctly when I'm holding down
the sensors) but the disc wont spin... :(

    Help? Please?

    Thanks in advance people!

have you unsoldered the piece of lead on the laser? It won't work if you don't.

Got the same prob here too guys(got a fat Ps2)!! But the tech told me that it's the loading chip!!! Don't know if im being tricked but he says it'll work fine if that's changed. I'll get it on friday, it's about $35 here. Its supposed to be a chip to the downward-right side of the ps2 board. Its soldered.
Don't know if that'll help u but u can inquire about that ;)
