My DVD drive broke and I need to replace it. I know you can flash a new drive with the current drive's firmware. I would like some help in learning how to do so. I have no problem doing it, I just need to know where to start in regards to which drive I should get and the firmware tool to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't have the firmware for it. I'm assuming I could use a tool to save it once I hook it up to a computer or no?

You'll need the key of the drive that broke in order to flash the new drive and now that's it broke, you won't be able to get that key

It depends on what is broken, a dead laser or dead drive motor shouldn't be that much of a problem, a fried board on the other hand leaves you with an almost useless Xbox 360. A dead laser or drive motor you can get exchanged for a working one.

Yes, if you can still retrieve the OFW then you can just buy a new drive and install the CFW onto it.
