I have seen some ads for software called Replicant 2(games edition), and also DVD Copy Professional, they all claim to be able to burn direct-boot psx and ps2 games w/o the need of a modchip...... anyone know about this?
I know that the psx and ps2 copy protection is just unreadable sectors at the beginning of the disc, and in theory since a dvd drive can detect them, their has to be a way to replicate a dvd and not just copy it

Nope, our dvd drives can't actually read the necessary boot information. I believe its called the BCA (burst cutting area), where that boot info is. So, since our burners can't even read that part of the disc, they can't burn there either.
