I just got a used machine running win XP Pro and I was wondering if there was any way to remove the previous owners name from the system. Everything has their name on it and I would like mine on it, and I'm not referring top user names I already removed them. ex. computer is registered in their name. I have already run system prep and it doesn't take out the names. Thanks.
Open the registry editor and do a search for the exact spelling of the original user's name and replace all instances with yours.
