We have used Nero software to burn a backup CD of some critical data.

We are now trying to restore that backup and are unable to do so (hope we didn't burn it incorrectly in the beginning).

When inserting the burned cd, we can see the following info...

    Track No: 1
    Kind of Track: Joliet
    Size of Track: 57MB

It does appear that our data is here in the above listed file, however, we are unable to open that file. It cannot even be selected.

I'll acknowlege upfront that we've make backups before and were able to restore them, but had no clue what we were doing (probably just got lucky). Now that we need the data, we seem to have run out of luck.

Please respond with recommendations for what we may be doing wrong.

    Thank you for your help.

Try looking at the CD with Isobuster.

If you burned 'MODE2' instead of 'MODE1' Windows Explorer might not be able to read the disk (but Isobuster will).

If Isobuster shows a system file with folders, you're OK. If Isobuster shows a generic 'Track1' with no files, you burned a coaster.
