Is Rima a good place to get Taiyou Yuden DVD+R's? What are the differences between TYGO3 and TYG02 and are those the authentic ones?

I'm just wondering why they must be +R's instead of -R's?Guess i just find them to be more compatible in my dvd players.

    - I got two 50 pack +R YUDENT02 there and so far no coaster.
    +R : YUDENT02 = 8X, YUDENT03 = 16X
    -R : TYG02 = 8X, TYG03 = 16X

Sometimes when I make a backup, it doesn't always work for some reason in my DVD player. Also, whenever I want to backup my ps2 games, it does matter.

If you insert your backup discs into a drive and you see the following error messages on that drive/stand alone player,it usually means it doesn't recognize the format from that particular burner:

    No Disc
    Dirty Disc
    Wrong Format
    Wrong region
    Illegal disc

Each player will display a different message, when it doesn't recognize a dvd backup disc. Some are picky as to plus/dash/plays them both/or may not even play either. Burner quality is another factor. Say you got a picky stand alone player. It may play the dash backups from your buddy's burner, but it won't even recognize your dash backups-using the exact same media and exact same backup process.

Crap media can also give that error message,so use the quality stuff so you can rule that out first. I've even seen that issue when going from Verbatim +4x Ricohjpn-r02,while no issue with the Verbatim +4x MCC-002 on the exact same 30 pk spindles. I had 3 of those 30 pk spindles. Two of the spindles were MCC and the 3rd spindle was ricoh-which gave a ps2 fits.

pholmes31: Now if you're an average burner and only play your backups on a couple stand alone players, you may not even notice the compatability issue between formats-booktyping may be no biggie for those peeps. Start passing those backups to friends/family,and they may have a problem playing them.

Now try 100-200 different drives ,playing your backups. You will see the huge compatability issue between plus and dash, and the plus format booktyped to dvd-rom kicks the dash's a**!!!

Me for example: I'll convert home vids of 8mm,vhc,vhs onto dvd+r on my tv recorder. These backups would only be about 50% compatable. Can't have that ratio if a family wants 20-30 copies.

Then I'll rip them back onto the pc and booktype them to dvd-rom with all my benqs/plextor,and a better than 95% shot at playing them.

If you got a booktyping capable drive, then booktyping them will take care of those no disc errors-so you'll be able to slap them in most drives. If not,the dash format should perform the best.

I see what you mean,i guess within my small circle of friends we have all had great luck with -R's.
