I've been reading the faqs for a few days now, played around with DVD Decrypter and DVD-Shrink, but there's still something I don't quite have a handle on.

I want to rip the main movie off a DVD and store it on my hard drive for viewing. I don't want to transcode it, I don't want any quality loss whatsoever. I just want one big file that I can double-click on to start watching.

What should I be looking for? Do I just need to tell DVD-Shrink not to split the file into 1 GB chunks, and then associate .VOBs with my player? Or is there a way to get an MPEG file out of it without reencoding?

You could use DVD Decrypter to rip it as an ISO file and then use a program such as Power DVD 5 to playback the file from your harddrive.
