Hey all a friend of mine has just bought a 160gb westernn digital hd for his xbox installed it ran great.

his box then blew up due to a dodgy power supply and i now need to put this drive in another xbox but i am told i cant as it has been locked to that m/board.

i even tried formatting it on pc but it wont read it as its fatx

is this drive totally useless or can i salvage it.

You could always hook it up to a different modded Xbox that has the ability to lock and unlock the hard drive, and reformat it that way.

Its not that simple^ I think you would need 2 xbox's to do that. And you would need the original motherboard as well. So I dont know if that idea would even work. This is why you always right down the password thing down when you lock your hard drive. Only way I know of would be to read on xbox-scene.com on how to salvage the part of your broken motherboard with the password on it, then put it on the new motherboard. Requires soldering and steady hands...
