well my other backed up game (MK: Deception) plays fine without any stuttering at all. It was burned at the same speed, also with a DVD+R.

What do you guys think the problem is?

what dvd writer are you using? some writable dvds are not compatible with all dvd writers make sure its compatible and burn at lowest speed possible, if its a an 8x only disc, then you have to burn at 8x obviously but if it for example 1x - 8x then burn at lowest speed (1x from the example).

Try different media, as in dvd-r (like mc said) because some ps2 (old versions) dont read dvd+r as good as they could read dvd-r, and Meritline isn't a promising company, try Verbatim if your looking for a cheap but good quality solution...
