hey, i was just wondering , out of curiosity what the jumper wire does? How come there isnt a usb mod that requires no soldering at all? I was wondering , because i was thinking maybe if the jumper wire is just to trick the tray into opening or something, i can do the flip top instead of soldering?

The wire is what sends the signal to "trick" the PS2. In a USB contains 3 wires

    1 power
    1 ground
    1 data

The one data does not connect to the correct spot in the PS2 to make a backup boot. This is why the jumper is needed.
