Hello, I have a HP 2400 scanner which I had to reinstall recently after a a couple of years. Ever since I have the quality of the scans has deteriorated especially in brightness and no matter how I tweak the output it still doesn't come close to as it did when I first bought it. I am mainly scanning B&W documents and the occasional color letterhead. What could be wrong here that the documents are coming out so light? Previously I was using the windows scanner application now I have to use the HP provided software because the windows one just hangs and even the HP app takes a long time usually and requires a reboot of the PC if it does work. Do I need a new scanner or is there a way to recalibrate it somehow back to its original state? Thank You
Try here for some answers Looks like there may have been an update this month. Also could be that the scanner is several years old and may be worn out depending upon use.
Why did you need to reinstall it ? two years without formatting and reinstalling windows is a long time could just be you need to redo your o/s
