i work at a radio station, and i've seen a few cds come through that look like a full size CD, but there's only about 20 min of data/dye, the outer ring is transparent. anyone know what this is called? or anyone on the net that sells these?

    thanks!

nope, that's a business card cd, fully aware of that.

as i said, it's a full size cd, but with only an inch or so of data, with the rest of it being mere transparent plastic. magnetophone's first album on 4AD looked like it, i've started to see a few more recently, but i can't recall...

I've seen CD-R cut to the shape of hearts, cogs e.t.c. but never CD-R with tranparent plastic only, where there is no data.

It's just a CD, where the layer is not full size. I have seen some software CD-ROM like this, but never a CD-R.

Sounds to me more like a 3" CDR except they made it so it is 5" standard size physically.
