Not trying to bitch, but there has been far too many off topic threads (counted 3 on the first page of this forum already), offensive threads, and generally unreadable threads (unreadable as in "YO DOOOOD WTFMOMOMOMO! etc.)

I understand the moderaters have gone on holiday, but some of them should be back by now. This is just a notice, I don't mean any offense.

Yep, mods have gone on hols, volume of msgs has increased dramatically, etc. We'll address this issue -- the "report an offensive post" was the first step towards making the forum more organized place and more improvements will follow as soon as we can get some time to work on those (yes, we admins do also have all sorts of wonderful things like "real life" going on every now and then, even though I'm writing this now and its 1:30am here.. :).

But I thank all the mods and members who try to bring some order into the chaos. Use the PMs and specially the new little button to notify mods when you see posts that are offensive/against rules/simply brutally in the wrong category and they'll sort it out -- even if they don't do so immediately, the report will stay in the list so when somebody has time, they'll sort it.

I'm definitely using the "report and offensive post" button =P

Just a question about the feature though. Once that thread's problems are solved, i.e. let's say it was off topic, do all other "reported offensive posts" concnering the problem get erased? Since the problem is solved. Otherwise the system could be abused greatly...

I am concerned that my fave forum is a catch-all for any & all questions.
Trying to keep it only DivX/XviD encoding, but not my job I s'pose...
Didn't think off-topic should be reported as an offensive post.
Toiletman is right but I'm sure things will get better like DaBoss says, in September.
    What's with CoZZa?
He's a good guy - he thinks somebody didn't want him to be a senior member...?
If you're fed up then log off for a while, you don't need to request your account be set inactive.
Something must have really pissed him off.
    Regards

@ toiletman: hey man point me in the right direction for those offensive posts, want to have a good laugh and see what offends even you.

@ darthnip: nice to see even the mods complain about cleaning the mess up now and again, always thought you guys were human!!!!!!!!

@The_oggs: hopefully in time cozza will return because you are right

T-man - no unfortunately every time the report button is hit, it generates a new one so i(we) spend alot of time going over duplicates, but thats ok, it's not to bad on our end and it's way better than the alternative.

I see... in that case, could the "Report an offensive post" system be "upgraded" or "improved" on? Because if it was, it would be a huge time saver.

I think the mods are doing a great job here. The other day a newbie posted his nero log along with his key. Several people tried to tell him but I could still see it. I sent a pm to Ketola and wala in no time it was gone and i got a pm letting me know it was resolved. Thats pretty good service for a site of this size.

Am I the only one who is reluctant to being promoted to a mod? :D

Not that I ever will, since I'm so full of crap.

What are the requirements for being a moderator?
A vast amount of technical knowledge? or enough common sense to keep the site clean and tidy and free from idiots?

I would like to think a moderator is a very open minded indiviual, has a general knowledge of the forums he likes, and has actually read the rules.
