my friend modded his wii so it can play his backed up games, now i asked him if there was any side affects and he told me, there is a small green dot in the background every now and then.

now this seems odd, cause the chip seems like it shuts off the cd drives abilty to detect regions on the disc, or something like that. before i go ahead and do this mod, can any one tell me of any issues, i dont want to wreck the wii.

The only problems I've had are with trying to play Naruto games and the first movie in Pikmin 2 (crashes).

Green dot? Have you seen this for yourself? Bad TV maybe?

Sounds more likely as screen burn in. Does he use a flat screen and has activated the burn in reduction?

The most common side effects of MODCHIPS are headache, facial flushing, and upset stomach. Less commonly, bluish vision, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light may briefly occur.

In rare instances, men taking PDE5 inhibitors reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision. It is not possible to determine whether these events are related directly to these medicines or to other factors. If you experience sudden decrease or loss of vision, stop playing with your wii and call a doctor right away.

Although erections lasting for more than 4 hours may occur rarely with all Nintendo Wii systems, to avoid long-term injuries, it is important to seek immediate medical help.

LOL... Just kidding. Sry, couldn't help myself :)

After I had my Wii for about a month, had green dots. Took it back to Nintendo and replaced it.
    No, mod chip.

Also, one in ten users experienced volatile, occasionally explosive diarrhetic hemoraging.
