Just seeing if I could get help?

I pulled a slim dvd drive from a gateway profile 2.
It has an IDE connection & power connection like a floppy.
I tried to install it into my pc but my computer will not even bring up bios.

    Any Ideas?

check to see what jumpers on back of drive is set to. normaly set as slave if a drive is present on same cable is set as master. what ide port are you hooking up to ide1 or ide2. also make certain ide cable is connected the right way

Believe it or not, but the drive has no jumpers. I've tried single, master and slave. Just didn't no if it's propitery to the profile setup or not.

I've tried it with a 40gig WD and Ricoh CD-RW/DVD.

I'm not real sure. It's been awhile since I've take the drive out of the profile. I no longer have the profile the screen went bad.

It's a toshiba model not sure off hand. I'm at work and the drives at home. If anything I'll post the information late tonight. But, in general the drive should work thought, right???

This may be a silly question, but have you gone to Gateway's site and contacted them, asking if it would work in another computer?

No. My plans were to use it to make a small pc for my car or home.
