    hi, andy15

I'm an avid user of bitlord, here's what I've found works.

    1. Go to a internet connection speed testing site.
Find out what your max upload and download speeds are.

    2. Under preferences, global max up/down, put these numbers here.

    3. Adjust your task specific max/min upload under the adavanced tab under properties of the current torrent.

I usually start out at 25-35, see what the download speed does, then start increasing it to the point that the download speed no longer increases.

Some torrents are very different, some I have a low upload (forced) and get high download. Some the download speed increases only as I increase upload.
Some you'll be doubling your upload to get max download speeds.

Remember try and keep a share ratio of at least 1. This will help keep torrents alive and benefit others who have benefited you.
