I've got a LG-GWA4161B (hooked up IDE) it's suppossed to be a 8X DVD burner, for some reason the fastest I can get it to burn is 1.7X (using Decrypter) I've got another LG DVD burner hooked up via Firewire, it's a 4X burner and it burns from Decrypter at 4X with the same computer. There is no firmware for this model that I can find, and I've checked for DMA mode. What could my slow down be??? Anyone??? Please!!!

    Thanks in advance.

I had the exact same problem, My old DVD on burned at 1.4X So being new I run out and buy a 8X mach8 Pacific digital and still burn at exactly 1.4x. A moderater on here suggested The DMA setting change. I did it just last week, and I'm burning now 12-15 min movies instead of 1-2 hours. But now I'm haveing some freezing issues.

So what's the Current Transfer Mode? "DMA if available" means nothing.
