You'll need at least 15G of hard drive space.

I have iMac G3 400mhz, and external Lacie D2, and no problems what so ever. Almost 100% results, if you use proper DVD-R -media and the source disc is fine. I also burn only 4X, not faster and not slower.

Ripping takes about 30 min (give or take), and compression about an 1 hour (give or take), but results have been great (if you can call "compression" great in the 1st place, since basically it sucks).

    G3/300:
    1. Rip 15-30 min on DVR-105
    2. Compress dvd9 a little over an hour
    3. burn at 4x no problem

    G5 Dual 2.0GHZ

    1. Rip 15-30 min on DVR-106D
    2. Compress dvd9 4-11 minutes
    3. Burn 4x

Mainly it's the compression that takes the time.
