Just tried to back up fourth and fifth disc of Season 7 "24" with AnyDVD 6603. All programs said -can't read from the disc they may be dirty- clean them-not dirty- about layer break area. Had no trouble with the first 3. These are not new discs. On the fourth I thought I had a bad disc but when the fifth did the same thing I was stumped.Knew could not have two bad discs. SO I tried DVDFab and it had no trouble backing both of them up.

I then went back and tried AnyDVD with the AI scanner setting changed to the "old way" whatever that is. And Clone could read the disc slowly in this area,so could Recode. Never had a disc that Fab could do that Any could NOT. Now I have 2. Has anyone else tried these two discs and had a similar problem??? Remember this the next time a program tells you to clean a disc that is clean.

I agree. My Lite-on often can't read what some of my other burners can.

You guys aren't reading what I wrote. LMAO (I didn't mention cleaning discs and using 3 different optical drives) LH 20A1S-Failed, Optiarc 7240S-Failed, and finally my most reliable reader for bad discs old LG 2166D-external-Failed, because the drives were not at fault. The cause was Anydvd itself. When I disabled AnyDVD and switched to DVDFab, the same drives could NOW read and rip the discs. And when changing A1 scanner setting on AnyDVD, the drives worked also. Nothing wrong with the drives or discs-just something in AnyDVD which didn't like the 2 discs' setup. It puzzles me to this day and the reason I posted the problem.

garmoon sounds like the 24 disc are using an older copy protection. it would be interesting to know how brand new disc would react compared to older used disc

By old, I meant they've been out for some time(released). The discs themselves are in almost pristine condition.

Edit: I think like you said the 4 and 5 discs had different protection than 1thru3. Waiting to do 6.

Just following up on "24" season 7. Just got my disc 6 back. Had no such problem with this one from AnyDVD 6607. Backup fine.
