im in the market for a new gfx card one that is directx10 compatible and will run most games, must be pci-e x16. at the moment my specs are intel 3.6ghz upgradin to intelcore2duo 2ghz 1.5gig ram i have crappy onborad gfx at the moment. so what card would you reccommend for me, ive got about £90 to spend. also is this one any good http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(19606)Asus-Extreme-8600GT-256MB-DDR3-Silent-PCIE.aspx thx
Screw that card, a 8800GT will smoke it in everything! Its only about $260 here, not to sure how much that is in pounds, but I dont think its far off (or maybe it is?) But yeah, 8800GT all the way! Oh yeah, ATi is releasing their new 3800 lineup on the 18th of this month I believe, and I think they'll be better than nvidia's cards right now, so you could wait if you want. May I also suggest you upgrade to 2GBs of ram?
ok cool, yeah i was gonna get anotha gig of ram an scrappin the 512 stick. well im gettin the new cpu an gfx card at end of month so ill see what these new ones are like. i think that 8800gt is a bit too pricey for me tho
m8, that wont run squat. what resolution are you gaming at. i would suggest the x1950pro and its well under £90, but it is DX9 comatible. you do not need DX10 at all. it shows no improvement in games, and no extra eye candy http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-064-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=404
ok cool well im runnin my pc on a 26" lcd hd t.v so not sure about the resoloution. thx ill check that out. also what about this one http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(21119)HIS-ATI-Radeon-HD-2600-XT-IceQ-Turbo-512MB.aspx also ive picked out this cpu http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(22054)Intel-CPU-Pentium-DualCore-E2180-2x20GHz.aspx basically ive got £150 quid to get a cpu an gfx card, so if anyone can think of a good combination for that price and this is the mobo i have http://support.thetechguys.com/layo...&CatID={18e6b433-6d2b-407d-a3e7-80ee69269039} dont really wanna upgrade it as its only new but probbably a cheap crappy one as the comp is out of a shop
the cpu is very good. but the gfx is worse than the one i showed you. PS that cpu is cheaper on the site i showed you
cool so im sorted with that cpu then, anyone know how overclockable it is. so far the x1950pro seems to be the best for my budget, does it need any extra power or anythin. thx for all the help. so this would be my setup cpu - Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.00GHz (800FSB) gfx card - ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 2 gig of ram and a crappy mobo i think - http://support.thetechguys.com/layo...&CatID={18e6b433-6d2b-407d-a3e7-80ee69269039} do u think i would be able to play games decent on that
cool not too botherd about crysis but what about games like pro evo 2008, would that run quite well on that setup. otherwise i dont wanna spend money an only be able to play old games or have new games looking totally crap, if that was the case i would pay a bit extra an try an get better. also im not too botherd about running games on full settings, as long as they look quite decent thats fine by me.
that CPU is a very good overclocker. i would recomand the tuniq tower for the cpu cooler. the x1950 will destroy PES2008 on high everything. My 7600GS does, so i dont see why not. what is your psu?
that sounds cool pes is my fav game, i normally play it on the 360 but mine died from the 3red lights at the weekend thats why im deciding to upgrade my pc so i have somthin else to play on. im not sure what psu i have, but i think it will just be a cheap crappy one. what psu's are good for my setup
ok thought id give an update, im now gettin the E4500 as its not much more in price for the extra 1mb cache, its this one below http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-159-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=793 to go with the x1950 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-064-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=404 my next things on my list will be a new psu and ram. im looking for reccomendations on a psu from the same site. and is this ram decent enuff, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-034-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=144 also it says its a dual channel; kit but i dont think my mobo takes dual channel but will it still work
good cpu, but cashe does nto help when in games. the ram you shoudl get is the quicker, but same priced: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813 and dual channel will jsut turn off, but the RAM will work. (make sure that ur mobo can take ddr2) and for PSUs, the cheapest one i would get and whole heartedly recomend is: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-006-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=823
