im in the market for a new gfx card one that is directx10 compatible and will run most games, must be pci-e x16.

at the moment my specs are
    intel 3.6ghz upgradin to intelcore2duo 2ghz
    1.5gig ram
i have crappy onborad gfx at the moment.

so what card would you reccommend for me, ive got about £90 to spend.

Screw that card, a 8800GT will smoke it in everything! Its only about $260 here, not to sure how much that is in pounds, but I dont think its far off (or maybe it is?)

But yeah, 8800GT all the way!

Oh yeah, ATi is releasing their new 3800 lineup on the 18th of this month I believe, and I think they'll be better than nvidia's cards right now, so you could wait if you want.

May I also suggest you upgrade to 2GBs of ram?

cool so im sorted with that cpu then, anyone know how overclockable it is.

so far the x1950pro seems to be the best for my budget, does it need any extra power or anythin.

    thx for all the help.

so this would be my setup

    cpu - Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.00GHz (800FSB)

    gfx card - ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3

    2 gig of ram

    and a crappy mobo i think - http://support.thetechguys.com/layo...&CatID={18e6b433-6d2b-407d-a3e7-80ee69269039}

do u think i would be able to play games decent on that

cool not too botherd about crysis but what about games like pro evo 2008, would that run quite well on that setup.

otherwise i dont wanna spend money an only be able to play old games or have new games looking totally crap,

if that was the case i would pay a bit extra an try an get better.

also im not too botherd about running games on full settings, as long as they look quite decent thats fine by me.

that CPU is a very good overclocker. i would recomand the tuniq tower for the cpu cooler.

the x1950 will destroy PES2008 on high everything. My 7600GS does, so i dont see why not.

    what is your psu?
