Sony DRU 500a

I have recently purchased this DVD R and when I try to copy a DVD I get this message.
Error While Copying a Disc
Not all discs can be copied. For example, some DVDs and music CDs are created with a copy-protection feature. Also, discs created with a UDF file system cannot be copied.

Ensure that the disc you are trying to copy is not copy-protected or using a UDF file system.
Is there any way around this? Sorry I am new to this.
