hi, im new but i have been reading everywhere about my problem but cant figure out what is causing it. i have a presario 2100 (which has no hi-spped usb) and i bought a 2.0 usb pcmcia card (compaq like the laptop. and i have a sony drx-530ul with upgraded to 2.0 so well the problem is that i can read and stuff from the burner and i can transmit data from the usb card to like a printer or my gba. but when i connect the burner through the pcmcia card i cant burn, it tells me it has a buffer faiure. i start burning and it like freezes at the buffering part and ruins my disk. so can you help? wat could be the problem the card, pc, or burner.

    Hi kermi,

If the card was good you'd have a 2.0 USB which would be just fine for your burner BUT it sounds like you're trying to work with a 1.0 USB.

I suggest that you look for a new card -

    Cheers,

    Pete

Have you updated all related drivers for your system such as as USB, PCMCIA card, etc?

Are there any newer firmwares for your drive?

Have you tried using a different USB cable?

Have you tried using the drive on another PC?

Double-check for a working ASPI layer also
