    Hello Everybody:

I got a Sony DW-U10A working as external drive installed in a external enclosure. The connection to my laptop is through a USB cable (USB 2.0 to USB 1.1 4 port hub). I have Windows XP Professional SP1 installed in my laptop.
Connecting the Sony DVD burner was ok. But when I tried to burn a CD, or just erase an rewritable one, my laptop did not do it (I use Nero 6). I checked the installation of this DVD burner, I set it to Master as the manual of the external enclosure says but still the same problem.
I tested this DVD burner in a desktop computer and it worked fine (a Pentium 4, 2.4Ghz).
My laptop is a Compaq Armada M700 (Pentium 3, 850MHz).
Does someone know what is going wrong?

I hope someone can help me to fix this problem soon.

    Best Regards,

    Miguel

    Hi Cyber guy

i'm no expert but perhaps try the fire wire connection port instead of the usb connection.

    Good luck
