Is it worth paying the extra for the sony, the main differance I can see is the sony has better sound and freeview.

I have a 5.1 system, so won't use the sound much, plus have sky HD.

But if I ever sell it or use it standalone then these features will be handy.

I've had good and bad experinces with both companys stuff. that's why I going to pay more than the on-line price and buy from a shop.

I was tempted with the Sharp Quos sharp but it does not have VGA input. and would be nice to connect my laptop/PC now and then.

I would prefer the Sony just for the brand. or and I just being stupid and buy the samsung and save £200.

I just picked up the Samsung 40"LCD ($1399) Sunday at Circuit City. Couldn't be happier so far. So much cheaper than any Sony I looked at. It's the most stylish looking one too boot.

i have had the samsung 40" LCD (51D model) since early january. i like it very much - the picture is really nice and sound is quite adequate for any tv i watch. i use 5.1 with a home theater system for any movie plus sports events, so i haven't really challenged the tv's sound system but for what i've listened to it has not been an issue.
