I'm using numerous sources for renting/borrowing movies, and many of the originals I'm getting are in poor shape.
I'm wondering what you experienced folks use for picking up movies are.
    Any ideas.

We usually pick them up at the store when they are brand new,lol

That's why we back them up and store the originals away.So our kids don't scratch the heck out of the originals.

Here in the USA, it is illegal to backup a dvd that you don't own.

Oh, I see(I live in the US). I was not aware of that:).
    Let me rephrase the question.........
If it were legal to make copies of pre-recorded DVDs, does anyone have any idea what would be a good source or sources for finding them?!?
    Just curious.

I guess you didnt understand the answer you got.
It is legal to copy dvds, but it is not legal to copy any that you dont own.Your allowed 1 backup of every dvd that you [bold]own[/bold]

There's always blockbuster, but with those special tracking chips they put on their rental discs, You will have to unhook your internet and line your walls with lead plating.
