Anyone heard of any issues with standalone Toshiba DVD players (not HD) and using -R media? Someone stated they couldn't playback any -R type burned DVD. (no specific model)

just make sure you are using good media! I use Taiyo Yuden only. These disks are Made In Japan (MIJs) which are the best! try some good stuff before you categorize a whole format of -Rs.

This isn't me, but someone else. I don't have all the details other than what I posted. He does use cheaper no-name media as I have, but AFAIK, he tried different types and all had problems. The same media worked on other players.

I have 3 Toshiba stanalone dvd players. Two of the 3 play fine, the one that won't play burnt discs is a good 6-7 years old. The other two will play any burnt dvd you can throw at them. One is 5 years old, the other is 3 years old.
