I had a thread some time ago concerning Shrink not putting the subtitles on Apocolypto and Iwo Jima. Now it did the same thing last night with Daywatch. Here is a screenshot of my settings:

I wanted the Russian language with English subtitles, which is how the original plays by default. For some reason the video was not captured in the screenshot, but it was scene where a person was talking, in English and with no subtitles!?

OTOH Casshern was fine, Japanese language and English subtiltes...so what the hell am I doing wrong?

I should mention that these movies were ripped with recent versions of DVDFab decrypter using the Full movie option.

Check the original for this operation. If it exists then use a different program to make your backups. DVD SHRINK has not been updated since 2002! Use DVDFAB PLATINUM, has a 30 day free trial. DVDFAB PLATINUM supports dozens of languages.

The originals operate properly. Just playing the disc using default settings Apocolypto is Mayan language and English subtitles, and Daywatch is Russian language and English subtitles, Letters from IJ was Japanese language adn English subtitles.

The structure of DVD hasn't changed since 2002 so I don't see why Shrink should have problem. Has anyone backed up Apocolytpo, Letters from Iwo Jima or Daywatch using shrink?

So no one has backed up any of those movies with Shrink?

You can manually set the default stream and "force" the subtitle to play in re-author mode.
Instead of explaining it, I'll just have you look HERE

The guide is animated... so watch it all.... then scroll down to find out how to identify the proper stream....

Same here, that was news to me, too! Never had to change the default language. Did save the info, and will pass it on.

Not quite, but thanks anyway. The big thanks goes to ddlooping for making that site(I miss having him around here). If you browse around that site, you might find a bit more useful info. Some of the guides are for older versions of Shrink, but still can be applied to the last one. There are also still images to download for use with Shrink when you use the still image feature. Be sure to click an ad or two to show your appreciation.
