Still Pictures how do you make them Play on a DVD Player???

Hi All
I'm trying to send some pictures on a DVD to a Mate that has no PC but dose have a DVD Player..
Can someone please tell me how do you make still pictures that are burnt on a dvd disc in your player ??? I have a Pioneer DV533 that can play back Jpegs ,, but I'm unable to make it work .What do I need to do ???
I'm using Nero at the moment but if there is another burning software that will make it easier please let me know

I use a program called photodex gold and it works great.
Can add music etc to photos.
My dvd is a Pioneer 533 and it plays back no worries

 

A friend uses Ulead DVD Picture Show. They have a free trial available:
