    How do I get and use subtitles with DivX and XviD movies and TV Shows? I would prefer to use them in Windows Media Player if poss.

    WinXP SP2, Win Media Player 9.

    Cheers.:)

    Ok
    Search subtiltles in:
    http://www.divxmovies.com/subtitles/
    http://divxstation.com/subtitles.asp
    http://www.subtitles.cz/en/
    http://subtitlesonline.uw.hu/

    There are subs in diferent formats, including VobSub, if you find VobSub, congrats you can burn it in a VCD with subs.

    put them in the same directory, with your DivX.
    rename the subtitles and the movie to match the same file name but the extention.
    i.e.
    Night.Of.The.Living.Dead-DVDRip.DivX.avi---------->your movie
    Night.Of.The.Living.Dead-DVDRip.DivX.sub---------->your subtitles

    If the movie doesnt match the time line of dialogs, then go to:

    http://www.ireksoftware.com/

    and download Time Adjuster.
    Install it.
    Run it.
    Once running:
    Go to File--->Open
    Select your subtitles file.
    and then goto file----->Synchronize

    You will notice the first half of the file is in the top side of the window and the other half in the bottom.
    Select the first line of subtitles and select the "or use AVI player to point me that line" button, select your DivX movie, forward until that line appears in the spoken dialog, in that moment press "Line below is playing now".

    Do the same with the last subtitles line.
    Save it.
    And you have DivX with Subs.

    To view it with MP9, you will need:
    ---The K-Lite Codec Pack

    http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/

    or
    ---The Elisoft Codec Pack

    http://codecpack.elisoft.net/

    I hope it can help you.
