    Hello,
I just got my Swap Magic 3.2 today (it prints 3.2 on the CD but says 3.00 on the TV, is that normal?) and I'm having quite a hard time getting things to work.
    PS2 version: code U2 with SCPH30001R should be V5/6
DVD: Ridata 4X DVD+R burned w/ DVD decriptor
Burner: I/O Magic 12X dual format @ 2.4X (slowest possible)
Games tried so far: Naruto Narutimate 2, Killzone, FF X-2 international
    Problems:
When I use the Swap Magic 2.0 DVD, I get a red border when I load the back-ups. Using the 3.2 CD, I get flashing borders. What's the difference between the CD and the DVD? (BTW, I followed the sticky's method of using the CD)
Also, how exactly do you use the CD Loader/DVD Loader? Do you load them like the game? Which Swap Magic disc (CD/DVD) should I use? What's the purpose of the two loaders?
    Thanks.

you use swapmagic cd to load cdr backups

you use swapmagic dvd to load dvdr backups

cd/dvd loader is used in conjunction with swapmagic to load problem games swapmagic can't load on its own, check out http://www.swapmagicfix.com for a list of problem games and there fixes

to use cd loader you boot swapmagic cd and swap for cd loader by flip/slide ans press x
cd loader boots, now press eject and swap for swapmagic dvd, press eject to send back in, wait for it to say ps2 dvd in lower left of tv screen, when that appears press x
wait for swap by ea method prompt to appear on tv at this point swap for backup by flip/slide and press x

you use dvd loader the same way except you boot it with your swapmagic dvd instead of the cd

Thank you so much for your detailed reply; now I have a clearer idea about what all the stuff are.
I've just made a copy of a movie DVD and it plays just fine on my PS2; thus it is confirmed that my PS2 should be OK with DVD+Rs but now I keep on getting "error when reading discs" and with I use CD Loader and the color borders when I use Swap Magic without the loaders. What could be causing these problems? My burner or the media I'm using? Are there occasions where your PS2 can play DVD+R movies OK but can't play DVD+R backed up games?
    Thanks!

to use swapmagic you don't need to solder but will need to use either the fliptop or slide card and yes it should work fine on your scph 30001

ok after you have done the swap make sure that the pin is slid all the way over or the backup won't boot

I've tried to back-up and burn w/ both Alcohol 120% and DVD Descrypter, following the steps in the stickies.

you seem to be doing everything correct and there appears no reason why your backups won't work all i can suggest is you get your self a single dvd-r disc and give that a try, sorry i can't be of more help :(

You are already more help than I could hope for; thanks very much :) I'll go get myself some DVD-R tomorrow and burn with my other burner (Toshiba-5112) and hope for some luck.
