You could try using DVDLoader and see how that goes. I think CD/DVD Loader are for those who typically want to boot DVD games using their SM CD disc and vice versa and generally for other Swap Magic versions like 2.0 that have had trouble booting games that were later released although I could be wrong about the latter.

dvd loader gets burnt to a dvd and has to be booted with swap magic dvd.

burn cdloader to a cd-r, and boot that with swap magic dvd.

from what i gather, cdloader will also boot dvd-r backups.

however, there are apparently some issues with certain ps2 models regarding cdloader. so if you cannot get it to work, you will most likely need to get a new sm dvd.

Could always learn how to play games off a hard disk drive. I've managed to hook up an IDE HDD onto my old fat PS2 recently to play games directly from it using the Swap Magic CD so I can use as much of my PS2's life before it dies and get a laser replacement (yes, I'm that cheap =P), and I can personally use my SM DVD disc for use on my slim PS2 I also got.

You could always look around for Cogswap if you want to play DVD games using your SM CD although I don't really know much of it since I don't use it.

hooking up a hdd to a fat ps2 requires the LAN card for it, which has the hdd port attatched, ala

theres also one for the slimlines.

you could use the Swap magic CD to load those.
of course you DO need to hunt down a compatable hdd.

    as for cogswap...
you need to do quite a bit to get that onto a mc...
but its the cheapest way to go.
