I have compared Metal Gear Substance to the original swap magic discs. These are the files I came up with off the swap magic discs:

    First Layer:
A Folder named Modules which includes the .irx files for booting purpose
    DUMMY100.BIN
    ROM_00.BIN
    System.cnf
    Slus_200.71

Inside the MODULES folder I found these .IRX files:
    TLSNDDRV.IRX
    MCSERV.IRX
    MCMAN.IRX
    MTAPMAN.IRX
    LIBSD.IRX
    PADMAN.IRX
    MODHSYN.IRX
    SIO2MAN.IRX
    IOPRP20.IMG

The second layer is the same as the first one, just in lower case.

The MODULE files from the Metal Gear Solid Substance disc which might help for Dvd-9 support:

MODULES FILES (note these are in lower case):
    LIBSD.IRX
    MCMAN.IRX
    MCSERV.IRX
    MCXMAN.IRX
    MCXSERV.IRX
    MTAPMAN.IRX
    PADMAN.IRX
    SDRDRV.IRX
    SIO2MAN.IRX

The image file from metal gear solid substance is IOPRP255.

I was thinking couldn't it be possible to compile swap magic with these module files to make it support Dvd-9 discs, just a guess.
