There is no screws on the back of the xbox, the outside casing is just two pieces, top and bottom. when people take off the back they use a rotary tool.

umm...the xbox case is three pieces (top, bottom, and front....you have to completely disassemble the xbox to get the front off) and NO the back does not come off. i took my front pannel off while painting my xbox with automotive paint so i could completely redo it (inside and out).

why do you want to take the front panel off anyway, it is only need if you are going to paint the box or your going to install an external switch.

anyways, to do it you need a butter knife and a little force. Man, there are a lot of tutotials out there you should do a search. All of the stuff you are asking are solved in tutorial section of http://www.xbox-scene.com go there, then if you are still confused come back for more questions

you dont have to open to clean the fans, you can use compressed air and blow it from the outside. But if you already vioded your warrentee and openned the box, then I would definitly use some compressed air and blow the crap out of the inside, it is real dusty int there.

you can use a q-tip and alcohol, but the problem you will run into is that you are going to have to take apart the disk drive, which is easier with the ps2 than the xbox

go ahead and open the box then, but remember if your xbox is not modded, then dont do it because opening it would void the warranty.

maybe some of the dust landed on top of the cpu, I wouldnt worry about it. now the clicking noise usually comes from the disk drive, but I don't think it has anything to do with blowing air into the fan area
