text messaging to other countries ??

Hey guys

cant seem to find what im looking for

so i thought id ask you lot

i am assuming it is possible to text ppl in other countries (as you can ring them)

but does anyone know if this is possible on the 3 network and how much it will cost

im specificly interested in the US and canada

with most providers, such as cingular, it costs no more than a regular text message.
