Thank you for helping me. I have been downloading movies using dvd shrink as you instructed me to do. It has worked wonderfully. I have successfully burned about 23 movies. I am currently attempting to copy Planet Of The Apes. It gives me the message "failed to read" and "data error (cyclic redundancy chock". I am not sure what to do. Please help me if you can.

    Thanks,\

Dowload DVDecrypter [free] find some of Scuba Petes excellent guides on how to use it, and Prrro seed. :)

    also check your media.

    Duke,
I would guess that your DVD is scratched or dirty. Try cleaning it. If that doesn't work, see if you can get your hands on another DVD.
    Good Luck,
    HW.

I tryed with dvd decrypter but it still doesn't work . I also cleaned the disk. The disk was brand new in unopened box but I cleaned it anyway . The problem I'am having is dvd shink analyses about 47% of movie then pops up CYCLIC REDUNANCY CHECK FROM DVD ROM DRIVE.If you place in burner drive it analyses about the same % but pops up copy protection error.

What media are you using duke?

also I may be worthwhile downloading the 21 day trial of AnyDVD from slysoft and/or DVD43

    http://www.dvd43.com/

    try both they don't conflict.

but I think poor media might be the culprit.

    good luck

One other thing are you trying to burn from a DVD disc or from a downloaded movie, if it's from a site what format is it in?

Gringle you were right it was bad media. The dvd was brand new so I never expected it to be bad . I put it in home player and the bad spot showed up there . Thank you for your info, and help.

if the "original" was yours i would take it back

if it wasnt, hehe, and you want to copy it anyway, you could try enabling ignor read errors in decrypter

and if the error spot is not too big,and u dont mind missing it out,dvd shrink will allow you to edit the damaged scenes out
    just reauthor,right click,select start/stop points.keep dragging it over.
the minimum u can remove is 6 secs(15 frames)

i have never tried this function myself,so not entirely sure it will work

    with regards hursty
