I little while back I purchased my xbox off a friend for 25 dollars, he had lost the xbox remote but the dongle was still plugged in. I have so far put evox, unleashx, xbmc etc on it. I was just playing some music through through xbmc and it was really loud but I always forget that I have my sound running through my stereo so I picked up the remote and aimed it at the xbox and clicked volume down and it went down and I didn't think anything of it, untill I noticed the little volume bar in the corner of the screen and figured the xbox must have read the signal. I then hit track forward and sure enough it skipped to the next song. I just thought that was super cool. Is there a program I can use to train the xbox to use different buttons of my remote for different functions? thanx

Ya the xbox remote is RCA based, i believe you can use most Universial RCA remotes with that dongle.

Your remote obviously uses the same codes as the Xbox.

    What is your TV make?

this thread is a little painful to read. RCA is a company that makes stereos, tv's, and components. ARR-SEE-AYY!!!!

Calm down there champ, no need to lose sleep!

I live in Australia, I have never heard of RCA!

To me, RCA is a stereo connector...

If you have a universal remote such as a "one for all" etc, you can probably try punching in codes for RCA stereo receivers and some of them will work for the Xbox remote receiver.

RCA was the name for the Radio Corporation of America. A very big US company of the past.

The company no longer exists and the name is simply now a brand name for Thompson manufactured products. It's now just a "sold out name" similar to the name of Polaroid and Packard Bell <allegedly>.

The fact that you only know it from an industry wide recognized connector tells you how widespread this company once was.
