For people who have the V7, which no solder, no swap solution for the PS2 V7 is out there?

I found the "PS2 No Solder Modchip & Swap Magic 2.0 Combo" on www.gamegizmo.com.

Does anyone recommend this? What do you recommend?

All I want to do, is back up my PS2 games, and simply play it on my PS2 without having to solder or "swap" (whatever that means).

    Thanks in advance!

Hmm... I'm starting to think that the Magic III is the only thing available that comes as close to my standards..

It's just that you have to solder it...

If anyone has any info on no solder, no swap, for V7, I'd appreciate it!

Well, this it not a new thing !!
You have to swap anyways with the swap magic so I allways recommend a no swap modchip like Messiah and Magic.

"swap" means you first boot up the swap disk and at some point get it out of the PS2 tray and then put your copy in the tray so it will boot your copied games. You have to do this procedure every time, over and over again untill you get sick of it !!!!

Messiah and Magic f.e. are direct boot chips, so put your copy in the tray and it will (direct) boot ! Much much much much better...!!

There's no such thing as a no solder, no swap for any version. There are no solder chips for a couple other versions but you have to swap, plus it won't play cd-r's over 650mb.

Ok, I can't find Messiah anywhere..

I guess the Magic III is top choice?

Also, by no solder, I meant like, I don't really wanna solder 22 wires. What if I mess up? I'm terrible at soldering.

Maybe if there's a mod chip with only 2-3 wires to solder, that'd be a dream!

You have a PS2 version 7 so if you buy the Magic 3.1 you only have to solder 9 wires when using the clip kit.
Magic 2 with the clip kit also 9 wires to solder.
Messiah: 23 wires to solder !!
    Messiah 2: 24 wires to solder !!

I bought messiah because that was the best chip (direct boot) at that time, and available in the store near my house...
Mayby now I would buy the magic chip... if I had to choose.. but I don't so.
The messiah I have boots everything (CD-r, DVD+r,+rw, DVD movie copies, EA protected games). So I am very pleased with it !

If I where you I would buy the Magic 3.1 with the clipkit (so this would make it Magic 3.5 or 3.6 whatever), because of the 9 wires to solder instead of >20wires. Magic also boot everything you want with no swap.

Wizkid - Sorry I know we're past this subject but, if it has 1 wire to solder, then it's not really a no solder chip is it? The sbox only has 1 wire but it's not considered a no solder chip.

And I still don't know how to open up the PS2 so I can take a look at it's internal organs.

Hey DrSeven, since you don't know how to open up the ps2, you better not get those chip that required soldering. They are not easy to install, you will mess up your ps2.
