Tried DVD Decrypter and Smart Ripper and both didn't work, but DVD Shrink came through - weird??
i used shrink and it worked perfect.
Can you explain what didn't work? Any error messages?
Same thing ... explain!!!
Your not giving us much info to help you, what brand of media are you using? And, again what do you mean by Shrink came through wierd?
Last, you using an older version of DVD Decrypter ... newest version is 3.5.10
i had no problems burning it with dvdxcopy xpress.flawless.
Worked fine with DVDdecrypter and dvd2one for me.
Used shrink myself and worked perfect. Took awhile though on the punisher...had to remove and add a still image. Wooohooo! My first post...lol
This may or may not be the case, but, whenever I have trouble with Shrink, cyclic error, etc., I try shrinking with my better Burner. (I have a DVD player internal, and a DVD burner, external.) The external is a new sony and much better. Sometimes it gets over problems which occur with the internal player. When I don't have a problem,I generally use both units, and use Shrink then Decrypter.
Just a thought
I think this dvd has some sort of copy protection on it. I did exactly as you listed about just using the re-author method of just the movie file. I burned it off to a dvd and tried to play in my Sony DVD player and it came up with some weird error code like C:13:06..... or something like that and said dirty disc. The disc plays just fine in my computer.
I did notice that the original dvd had some weird player try to install when I put the dvd into my dvd drive on my computer. Did you notice that also. I got around that by holding down shift key when I loaded the dvd again.
I also played the files off my hd and they play just fine. I really don't know what is up with this dvd.
Was this wierd player 'Interactual,' by any chance. I have been trying to rid my computer of this, but maybe it is on the disc's itself?
The player was something that you could install. It gave me the option but I just closed it out. I don't want that crap on my computer. I also put the dvd back in and just held down the shift key and the player install box didn't come up.
i use dvd decrypter/shrink with day after tommorrow perfect burn.
i am new at the backing up thing. first attempt with the day after tomorrow. used dvdbackup, then dvd2onex, then finally to toast, when i put the disc in a player, all that i get is a blank black screen. Don't know what i'm doing wrong. any help would be appreciated.
Try ripping the dvd to your hard drive first using DVD Decrypter or Smart Ripper then open up those files in DVD2OneX or DVD Shrink.
To get my dvd to work I did the above method. First rip to hd with smart ripper then I used dvd shrink for compression.
i am using a mac though. i believe those programs are for pc? not positive, but went to download page and said windows. do you know of any alternatives on a mac?
Maybe this program? http://www.wormintheapple.gr/macdvd/mtr.html
I haven't used it since I don't have a mac but I was reading about the software.
First you use Decrypter, then Shrink.
If you wish to then use Decrypter again, to burn, go for it. I use Nero.
Backed up this film easily, compression ~80% once all the crap removed
Keep in mind, Shrink shrinks only video - audio copied direct, therefore remove all audio except AC3 5.1 for least compression.
There is a newer one I think, but DVDDecrypter 126.96.36.199 worked fine for me.
You can do either or, but Shrink is more than capable of ripping.
Well it's not available for download, at least here on aD. Current version here is 188.8.131.52
I was just saying older version worked okay for me
ahh, sorry about that ... I misread your post.
Copied with shrink and nero with no problems whatsoever.
