I'm not sure if this is nationwide but my local Target has 20 packs of TDK 2x DVD-R or 4x +R for $30. I bought a pack of the +R and they work great at 4x, even with my crappy old P3 733 computer.

I found a great place to buy... yesbuy.net In their DVD-R section I buy the Sky 2x plain DVD-R for $57 and shipping is free with a purchse of 25 or more. I also buy the Princo 1x DVD-R for $63 + s/h. I found this to be the best deal so far.

Microcenter on Black Friday had a blowout on TDK 2x DVD-R 5pk for $1.94. Over the weekend, the price was changed to $5.99.

On my Pioneer A05 DVD -R/RW drive, I am able to burn 4x on that media without having problems or using hacked firmware with Nero 5.5.

http://pcclub.com/ has a cake pack of 25 for $19 thru the end of the year. These are X4 media. There is no limit if ordered online and no shipping if you pick them up at the closes store (have them shipped there).
I have used 5 so far with a Pioneer 105 and have made only one coaster.

Circuit City has 'Liquid Video' 2x DVD-R's for $19.99 after rebate. I bought a pack last time they had this sale, and they seem to be fine for my limited needs, which is primarily PS2 back-ups. I made one coaster, and that was Soul Caliber 2, which seems to be a problem for others, regardless of media. I use a Pioneer DVR-105 & RecordNow Max, and always burn slow.
