Wrong forum. On the [bold]MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoding (AVI to DVD) [/bold] you'd have found the solution in the 'sticky' thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/129217.

More likely, your AVI has a compressed audio stream (AC3 for instance) that TMPGenc, unless it has the proper plugin (I have been told of AC3ACM for the AC3 audio stream, http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/, but I never tried it because the use of BeSweet is enough, for me) installed, cannot convert.
In this case you need to convert that stream to 'MP2 for SVCD' by yourself. My suggestion, contained in http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/129217, is to use BeSweet + BeSweet GUI.
