im trying to make a holiday dvd with tmpgenc dvd author 1.6

im getting the fllowing error messages when i try to create the output message:

    1. the menu on the track is to big.
the size of the track menu is 1000mb it must be less than 950mb
    2. the capacity of a double layer dvd is exceeded
    3. the capacity of a 4.7 gb is exceeded.

i dont wish to make a double layer dvd just a 4.7gb

i would like to shrink this file down is it possible to do this in tmpgenc
    and if so how?

    thanks
    very new to this area

I'm not familiar with the menu error.
Generally, you would set the 'Options''Environmental Settings' for a double layer disk.
That way you would see exactly how much over the limit you were when it was time to 'output'.
If the size of the input files is approaching the limit for a single layer disk, then the additional (usually small) overhead of the menu will push it over the limit.
Either scale back on the input or (if the input/output is of high enough quality), ignore the warning and run the files that are in the output folder through 'DVD Shrink'.

Here is an example of what I was referring to.
I had imported two titles which totaled five hours of video.Far too much for a single dvd.
I finished with menu selection and continued to 'Output', checked the box to create a folder on the hard drive and clicked 'Begin Output'.
At that point the information warning message appeared.
In my case I would have clicked 'ok' and let it process the output to the output folder but when it came time to burn the DVD I would have declined.
This would be a normal sequence.
Did your messages occur at the same point?
If not then I would suggest that the software needs reinstalled.

If the messages are accurate your input files are much too large, they should be less than 4.5 GB and the menu is also taking up too much space.
When you get to the menu stage, edit the 'menu display settings' to 'only track menu'.
Either the messages are correct and you have to cut back on the size of the project or the messages are wrong and the program is acting up.
If that's the case it has to be uninstalled and reinstalled.

okay i ahve managed to split the project into two parts to get two seperate projects that are now as vob files.

i now wish to rejoin these, shrink with dvd shrink (im assuming) and burn.

however dvd shrink will not accept vob files

DVD Shrink accepts the files if they have been created properly.
    Typically, clicking on
    C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\TMPGEnc DVD\Volume 1
from Shrink will open the files but only if they are in a folder named VIDEO_TS and there are the rquired .IFO and .BUP files present.

I assume you mean how do you author the dvd files in the folder to a disk?

If you wish to burn with DVD Decrypter from DVD Shrink, download, install and run it
    Set burn speed to 4x.
    Close Decrypter and run Shrink.
    http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/

Open the folder (where TMPGEnc saved the files) in Shrink.
    It imports the files.
Click backup and after it has done it's work an option message will pop up.
If you have installed DVD Decrypter then one of the options that Shrink offers is to burn the DVD with DVD Decrypter.
Put a blank in the drive and burn.
