    Hi Chaps,

I'm trying to encode an XviD AVI to DVD compatible Mpeg2, as per the guide.
GSpot reports the avi as: 23.976fps, 624x352 (1.77:1)

So, I choose the source format to be (1:1)VGA, and the 'Video Arrange Method' to 'Full Screen(keep aspect ratio)'.

Now, I encode (high presc. motion search & 2pass vbr), and it seems to go well until 50%, when I get an error box that just says 'ERROR', and has a number in the box, something like -671048894 23011.

Anyone came across this? Is it something I'm doing? I Googled, and searched the forums, but couldn't find this particular error.

Also, when I was testing my settings, I cut a 1min segment of my source (with virtual dub), and it encoded ok, burned to DVD ok as well.

    I'm stumped! Any ideas appreciated.

    Cheers

    calex

no cbr will give blocky video. try CQ, but this will give an unpredictable filesize. what you can do is get CQMatic at kvcd.net

but this seems like a problem of the directshow.
go into enviromental settings and set priority
    for the

    directshow multimedia

on the top of the list.
