Can anyone explain to me what a ripper does? Is it better to have the DVDXCopy Platinum RF (ripper free) or the one with the ripper? I am WAY new to all of this and need some help....

A ripper program rips away the encryption on a dvd disc and allows the movie to be copied to the HD to be played or burned back to blank media. Since 321 studios is out of business I would not purchase any X copy software. Go to the top of the page to the software tab and download DVDSHRINK and DECRYPTER both free. Then go to the guides tab and read how to use these great free programs. Come back with any questions after you have it set up.

If using XCopy Platinum, or any XCopy product ... it's better to have the RF version.

The browse button only works in the RF versions, so you able to burn movies(video_ts files) from your HD. They are also the most current versions, and with either 321Rip ( http://321rip.tripod.com/ ), or swapping bouducon.dll files ... you can enable the ripper again.

I have the DVDXCopy Platinum RF but I have not opened it yet. Basically, with the RF version and the 321Rip I should be able to back-up my collection. Correct?

Flip218...I'm pretty computerate illiterate. What are video_ts files ??

My honest opinion ... Keep it sealed and get your money back. There is no more "official support" for XCopy, well unless your outside the states. Even then good luck. Now if your able to get your money back, you can make a donation to aD, Jerry746 and myself :) LOL

Now get DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter (both are free), or buy AnyDVD and CloneDVD2(if bought together $65)

Other than the lack of "official support" for XCopy, if I have the RF version and 321Rip, will I be able to back-up my collection?
