    Hi Guys,

I have had a similar problem. The file I unzipped was a 2CD SVCD file. I burnt the first file to CD using Alcohol 120% but the second file is too large to fit on to a CD.

What would you recommend? Many thanks.

    Similar problem to... ?

I began this thread to get films onto DVDs, not VCDs.

    Check this out:

    WinAVI Video convert 6.3

    http://www.winavi.com/video-converter.htm

    "All video format to DVD/VCD/SVCD/MPEG"

    [bold]Weycraze[/bold]

"This is the way you get help"
I am hoping that's a compliment, but how else would someone get help?

"it soons become very clear what you have to do"
Just get on and do them!

    "you'll be mastering video files"
    See below!

    [bold]For anyone reading...[/bold]

    I began with:
Mounting CD Images with Daemon Tools
    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/multiple_svcd_on_dvdr_page_3.cfm

    I substituted:
    Processing and Burning the DVD
    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/multiple_svcd_on_dvdr_page_5.cfm

    Instead, I used:
    - WinAVI Video convert 6.3 (to convert to DVD burnable format)
    - DVD Shrink (to burn DVD)

I have managed to form a perfect DVD, from a torrent download, using the above stages!

Yes, jlrm365, that was a compliment.

It's nice to see a thread from beginning to end.

    WinAVI, nice little app eh?

"It's nice to see a thread from beginning to end"
I have altered my last thread, to be a little more clear.

    "WinAVI, nice little app eh?"
    For certain.

For .avi to DVD conversion I prefer VSO's software, but WinAVI is wonderful also!

    [bold]For anyone reading...[/bold]

It's a wonderful feeling to have managed something so "essential".

Please feel free to send me a private message(Click "Compose a private message", near the afterdawn logo at the top) or leave questions in this thread.

I have learned much since my first post in this thread, from other people and other forums, and would be glad to pass it on :)

Surley it doesn't matter what media you put the files on to. Either one DVD or two CD's the quality will be the same as it is still only a SVCD file, not DVD?

Please do not PM me if you have this problem as described in this thread. READ the thread, the knowledge or imformation is for everyone.

jlrm365, please do not invite people to PM me on your behalf. That's my business, not yours.

I'm quite capable of letting someone know to PM me.

What's the point of an open forum if we all start solving problems or helping through PM's?

"What's the point of an open forum if we all start solving problems or helping through PM's?"

I cannot remember any suggestion of help becoming exclusive to PMs.

Some people feel foolish asking questions in a forum, as it can be unclear.

Of course you should not have to help in this manner, but I choose to.

So much I have learned, since my first post in this thread :)

You might venture such answers could help everyone.

Indeed, but not the timid... and this method keeps things clean.

Valuable PMs can be posted, when they have been answered :)

    [bold]footman[/bold]

    You can see the process.

You have the suggestion of WinAVI.

    Try them.

"DO NOT SEND PRIVATE MESSAGES ASKING QUESTIONS THAT CAN BE ASKED USING OUR PUBLIC FORUMS"
You see... that would be clever... if not for...

"This is because our helpful users DON'T want to receive whining emails from other users asking questions"
... the fact I have offered to answer them.

"send only messages that have content that's meant to be private"
As I have said, some people feel some questions are foolish... when none are.

Feel free not to help via PM.

I shall not be sending any unsolicited messages... though I can and shall respond to each I receive.

Feel free to attempt to have me banned for this attempt to help others!

"Im not going to ask to have you banned, thats not my job"
Diluting the thread is no help either!

If something displeases you, have a mod ban me from further such comments or... ignore it!

"But dont tell people to pm others, like you did with Weycraze"
It seems your interpretation of the words "feel free to" (those I used) are bizarre.

Nowhere had I told anyone to do anything and I have, in any case, subsequently edited the post.

"He didnt appreciate it, and I wouldnt either"
    Good for you.

As I have said, feel free not to offer to help in this manner.

Some have sent me PMs already and I have been happy to answer them.

"if you feel your above the rules, then be my guest"
I have stated I shall not send unsolicited messages, however please show me the rule that prevents me from responding to them.

    Too late,youve already done that.

My point is... that if somebody reading this thread, thinks that its ok to pm you for help, then they may think its ok to pm anybody for help.
Some of the more frequent posters, would have a hard time keeping up with all the pm's.

I think you have missed my point jlrm365.

The file you have downloaded is an SVCD with 2 CD folders. You can burn this directly on to 2 CD's using Alcohol120%. There is no need to change it in anyway unless you wanted to burn it to DVD, but this seems a waste of time and resources as the picture quality will remain the same.

When you started the post you were asking what needed to be done with the files. You didn't ask how to put them on a DVD. The SVCD's should also play in a stand alone DVD player.

    "youve already done that"
I have done no such thing. You have!

Before this mess, my last post was bang on topic!

"then they may think its ok to pm anybody for help"
Nowhere is anyone but me mentioned as being open for accepting messages.

"a hard time keeping up with all the pm"
It's nothing to bother you though. You have not volunteered to help.

I have and so I shall deal with the PMs as I have been.

    With a smile :)

    [bold]footman[/bold]

"I think you have missed my point jlrm365"
I have missed nothing. You simply have not made yourself clear.

    "The file you have downloaded"
Has been successfully burned to DVD.

What exactly do you hope to gain from this thread.

Have you read the guides that have been linked to this thread?

    "seems"
How things seem do not matter. How things are does.

I have a need and several good reasons to convert downloads to DVD format, can and so shall.

"You didn't ask how to put them on a DVD"
Your point being? My end goal is none of your concern. I simply wanted to know how to get there!

I have been successful and so shall pass on what I learned during the process and since :)
