I have just burned some old home movies from vhs onto a dvd. now I am trying to get the dvd onto my computer as a video file so that I may edit it down.

can anyone tell me how to transfer the video on the dvd to the computer?

    thanks

How ever did you get the files from your VHS to your DVD without saving them to your HDD? Usually there is a conversion program that takes the files from your VHS and then converts them to a DVD format. (Mpeg-2) Anyhow, just Rip the DVD to your HDD using either DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink. Both programs are freeware... :)

    whats an hdd?

i just got the vhs to a dvd by using this cheap vhs/dvd player that converts.

anyways I did decrypt the dvd and all i got were files marked as video_ts, and vts_01 and so forth.

what I need is for the video to be formated into an MPEG so I can import the video into a video editing program.

    thanks
