I use Pinnacle Studio 9 to convert my home movies to DVD. Now, I want to "back-up" my Hollywood purchased DVD's but cannot perform the final "burn" step. I used Nero express, 123COPY DVD PLUS and neither one has allowed me to burn a movie. I am sure I am ripping it since I used DVD DECRYPTER. And 123COPY DVD sends you to a foreign website to get the program that will rip it. Does anyone think the Pinnacle Studio 9 could be interfering with this. I use the Studio 9 and cannot remove it. What else can I do. I just bought a copy of "I COPY DVD's 2" I'll try it too, but I don't think that's going to work.

    Hi Navig,
I had DVDShrink, and used it to shrink the files to size succesfully (I think 4.6G to fit on one DVD). But then I was using NERO to burn it to disk, and thats where I ran into a problem. Does DVDShrink burn the DVD too?
Last night I installed "I COPY DVD 2" and it worked!
First let me say, It was unbelievably easy. Once you download the decrypting software at DVD43free.com you reboot your machine & never have to go online again to "backup your movies. Someone had said on a thread that this software needs to be online for burning because it transmits info every time you copy a DVD. This is not true since I was completely offline.
I made a backup of my LED ZEP "Song Remains the Same" and so far I played it using Sonic on my computer and it looks like it has not lost any quality. I bought "I COPY DVD 2" at CompUSA for $40 and they have a $40 mail in rebate. FREEEEEEEEEE. If I can help anyone with any of this, let me know.
Now I hope this install has not screwed up my Pinnacle Studio 9 Software! That's tonights test!

    Hi Carlos:

Can you summarize, what are the steps you did to back up a DVD or Burn DVD?
Step 1: I beliee DVDSHRING is a free software, will copy a DVD Movie to Hard drive as a compressed "File A".
Step 2: Using "I COPY DVD 2" copy "File A" compressed file to DVD-R(W) and DVD+R(W).

DO you need still need Nero software to burn DVD?

    Hi Dhurvas,
The other poster said all you need is DVDShrink. My experience with that software was just to use it to shrink the file once it was on the hard drive, not burn to disc. So I cannot help you with DVDSHRINK
    However,
As I posted, I was successful with "I Copy DVD 2".
It's free after the mail in rebate.
    Load the software into computer.
Go to DVD43free.com and download the decrypting patch and reboot.
You now are ready to backup files.
Step 1: Open "I Copy DVD 2" (you should have an Icon on your desktop from the installation)
Select the dvd drive the movie is in and click the start button (or some button like that)
After about 20 minutes of it reading the movie and putting it in a temporary folder (all on it's own)
It will now prompt you to take the movie out of the DVD and put in a blank DVD for burning.
Step 2: Click Burn DVD (or something like that)
Thats it. All in about one hour.
The software decrypts it, compresses it on its own in step one. Then it burns to disc in step two.
    Hope this helps.
Also, Id like to thank all the previous posters on this website for taking the time to enlighten me on this cluster%&!@ that we call DVD Burning!

    Hi Navig,
Glad to see you corrected your first post, which said

"Honestly all you really need is DVD Shrink
at www.dvdshrink.org (its free and works great just a couple of clicks and your going)"
You forgot to say that you need Nero after DVD Shrink.

As far as I can tell, Nero is not FREE. I checked the NERO website.
I'm glad Nero works for you and tons of other people too. All I was saying was that for some reason I could not get Nero to work for me. It was an earlier version, but according to my friend, it should have worked.

    Regards

It should work but there have been alot of people having trouble with any version prior to 6

if you can get a hold of nero 6 (not saying how :) )

you should be all good after that
