Whoo dam. I got my v180 a few days ago and was trying to figure out how to get it to connect to my computer. I neglected to get usb drivers for it (rendering the setup wizard useless). Instead, i just downloaded a bunch of software (mpt, pst, motokit) and got absolutely nowhere. Somewhere between not getting the driver and scrweing with all that software, my computer decided that it no longer wanted to recognize that i was plugging. Now when i plug it in through usb, i get three sad little notes instead of two happy notes and a setup wizard. Where oh where has my setup wizard gone and how can i get the gadgets talking?

    First, start 100% completely over.
Unplug your phone, then go into the device manager, and uninstall anything that is under Motorola USB Device.

After that is done, plug in your phone, and whenever the install wizard comes up and asks for a driver, select [I will choose a location for the driver]. Every driver is located in the P2K directory, under /drv.

It will do this 5-6 times, and then your phone is set up.

I'm not sure i have a device manager. I never went through the wizard, and i never set anything up with the software, just installed it. Unless i'm not looking in the right place for the device manager, there is nothing related to my phone on the computer (as far as i know).

You can get the device manager by...

    Right clicking on my computer
    Go to properties
    Go to the 'hardware' tab
    Click on device manager

Wait wait wait now. I was a little hasty in that last reply. When i plugged it in and checked out the device manager and looked at the phones properties, it asked to reinstall drivers. Any clue where i can get the drivers? (most preferably free. Pay for drivers?! craziness)

Okay! Good. The drivers are found when you extract the P2K program, they are under /drv.

Gah. i'm sorry. It's late. I've gote the p2k driver, and it's contents include two .inf files and one .sys in a zip file. Do i just direct the wizard to the zip?

Direct it to the directory with the .inf files in it. It will choose the right one.

No... Unzip it, and then point it to the /drv folder which will be in the folder that you extracted it to.

Ooooh man. Sorry about that; I didn't realize it would create it's own folder when extracted. Is there a specific folder that it would be best to extract it to (program files, etc.) and there is no /drv folder inside the newly created P2k folder.

You must have a different package of P2K...

I uploaded the /drv directory to my site.

I have to go to bed... Dad's yelling at me. If you still don't have it, I can help you in the morning.

    Good night!
