This line caught my eye in particular:

    "12:34:13 PM #19 CDR -1046 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1780
    Illegal disc
    H: _NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A "

The illegal disc may be the problem. Have you tried using a different burner? Nero isn't the best burner out there. My favorite is DVD Decrypter. Have you tried burning with the same disk multiple times? Maybe it's a faulty disk. Try using a new disk.

nero 6.xxx works fine.. my pal has literally hundreds of disks burned with it.

Looks like a rubbish disk to me as well. Why do I get the feeling it's a tdk or maxell branded cmc-mag? Chances are even a successful burn would not play.. Buy some decent ritek dvd-r's and try again.

    Also a lot of burners/disks don't support 2.4x.. try 4x

the thing is, once I hit the "burn disk" button, or whatever it is, it fails almost imediately.

I think I found the problem. When I used another DVD burner that was faster, there were no errors of any kind. I think that the problem is that my dvd burner is just too slow.
