Trying to play a dvd-rip with 6.1DTS-ES...

    ....on my computer, which of course only has stereo speakers. I'm not sure if this topic should be in playback, or in here...anyways, because of this I can't hear the dialogue properly and the background sounds are too loud. Its like my computer is not properly mixing it down to two channels or something. I've tried windows media player classic and VLC player. Please help!

    In VLC, on the 'Audio' tab, are you selecting different tracks?

    DTS for DVD-Video does not use Downmixing.
    All you are going to hear is the L & R channels.
    To play back a DTS-ES 6.1 mix, you need DTS-ES 6.1 decoders and a surround system.
