Well I have a Dual Layer DVD burner, i know there is a recommended one but as long as i got my own already I'm not going to upgrade. My problem is the Regular DVD drive. All the tutorials have the Samsung SH-D162C as the one i should use, my question is could I use my own DVD drive, it's a SONY DVD-ROM DDU1615 and yes it can play Dual Layer DVDs. Trying to get started on this flashing and playing backups thing, please help

The Samsung one that you're reading about is the only one that will READ the 360 games. So if you're ripping a game and backing it up then you will need this drive.

The Dual Layer DVD+R drive you have is used to burn the .dvd image file of a game to a DVD+R DL disk.

    Easy explination:

Samsung drive----> rips .dvd file from 360 game disk
DVD+R DL drive----->burns .dvd file to DVD+R DL disk

How you get the .dvd file is up to you, you can either find it online or rip it from disk.
